Slice Map and Overlay -SilverInk

Greetings everyone,

Problem:
Spot-Color Plate is “knocked out”

PDF-Origin:

  • Serif Affinity Publisher 2 2.6.3

Toolbox-Version:

  • v.16.1.662

Task:
Prepare files for HP-Indigo-7900 SilverInk-Mode

Requirements:

  • PANTONE 877:

    • map to SpotSilver
    • set SpotSilver to knockout
  • PANTONE 871:

    • map to SpotSilver
    • set SpotSilver to knockout
    • duplicate SpotSilver, set to overprint, convert to 4C (C0% / M11% / Y 41% / K 48%), overlay on top of SpotSilver

In a dedicated Switch-Flow, these are the steps for PANTONE 871:

  • extract all Spots from DeviceN
  • duplicate file
  • Org-file:
    • map to SpotSilver
    • set to knockout
  • Duplicated file:
    • use Slice-Action to separate Spots from process-colors
    • file containing process-colors to bin
    • map sliced spots to (C0% / M11% / Y 41% / K 48%)
    • convert to 4C
    • Overlay sliced objects onto Org-File (toolBox-Action: Overlay)

ToolBox-Results (v.16.1.662):

If I follow the required steps in Adobe Illustrator, everything looks fine:

What am I missing?

Org-File, steps and results can be downloaded here:

Thanks and best regards
Paul

PS:
Sorry David, no Penguins : )

I was on vacation, and you didn’t include penguins so I didn’t look at your files!

In earnest - the files aren’t downloadable any more, could you please forward this (and the files) to support, if you haven’t done so already?

Thanks!

David.

Hi David,

sorry for the very late reply!

I found the solution to my problem:
FixUp –> Remove Unnecessary Transparency Groups

This FixUp is now the first step in every Flow/ProcessPlan that handles any kind of overlay-operation and it works great.

Best regards
Paul
